  2. THE LAWS OF THE KINGDOM                    Lecture 3.

  4. THE CHALLENGER TO GOD'S SOVEREIGN RULE
  5.  
  6. The original challenge to God's eternal Sovereign right to
  7. rule is recorded in Ezek. 28:11-19, and Is. 14:12-17.

  9. Lucifer's Sin consisted in 5 awful "I wills" against the
  10. will of God. They are evidently various aspects of that one
  11. sin .. The "I wills" are:

  13. 1.  I WILL ASCEND INTO HEAVEN ...
  14.  
  15.     He apparently proposed to take up his abode in the
  16.     third or the highest heaven where God and the redeemed
  17.     abide 2 Cor. 12:1-4.
  18.     Satan has no right either by position or redemption to
  19.     claim that sphere as the place of his abode.  His self
  20.     seeking intention is disclosed in this declaration as an
  21.     outrage against the Creator's plan and purpose.

  23. 2.  I WILL EXALT MY THRONE ABOVE THE STARS OF GOD ...
  24.  
  25.     By this statement it is revealed that Satan, though
  26.     appointed to the gardianship of the throne of God,
  27.     aspired to possession of a throne of his own and to rule
  28.     over the Stars of God ... the angelic beings are
  29.     obviously in veiw ... The sinful chaacter of Satan's
  30.     purpose is apparent.  TO SECURE A THRONE FOR HIMSELF.

  32. 3.  I WILL SIT ALSO UPON THE MOUNT OF THE CONGREGATION IN
  33.     THE SIDES OF THE NORTH ...
  34.  
  35.     The mount is a phrase which evidently refers to the seat
  36.     of divine government in the earth, (Is. 2:1-4) and the
  37.     reference to the "Congregation" is clearly of Isreal.
  38.     Thus this specific assumption seems to aim at a share
  39.     at least, (note the word also) in the earthly Messianic
  40.     rule.

  42. 4.  I WILL ASCEND ABOVE THE HEIGHTS OF THE CLOUDS ...
  43.  
  44.     Of upwards 150 references in the Bible to clouds, fully
  45.     100 are related to the divine presence and glory of God.
  46.     Satan is evidently seeking to secure for himself some of
  47.     the Glory which belongs to God alone.
  48.  
  49. 5.  I WILL BE LIKE THE MOST HIGH GOD ...
  50.  
  51.     This may be considered the key to the understanding and
  52.     tracing of his motives and methods.  In spite of the
  53.     almost universal impression Satan's ideal for himself
  54.     to be unlike God, he is here revealed as being activated
  55.     with the purpose of being like God.  However, this
  56.     ambition is not to be like Jehovah the self-existent one
  57.     which no created being could ever be- but to be like the
  58.     most high, which title signifies the possessor of heaven
  59.     and earth.  Gen. 14:19, 22.

  61.     Satan's purpose then is to gain authority over heaven
  62.     and earth.

  64. EVALUATION
  65.  
  66.     Each phase of Satan's Sin is an act of rebellion against
  67.     the constituted Authority of God and was motivated by a
  68.     covetous desire to appropriate that very Sovereignity for
  69.     Himself.  Because of this sin, which brought about the
  70.     fall of Satan, a Kingdom over which Satan rules was
  71.     formed in opposition to the Kingdom over which God ruled.

  73.     He is pictured as:  The God of this world - 2 Cor. 4:4
  74.     (Age).
  75.                         The Prince of the Powers of the Air-
  76.                         Eph. 2:2.
  77.                         The Possessor of the Kingdoms of the
  78.                         World - Matt. 4:8-9.

  107. 5.  Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

  111.     form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

  114.     cross.

  116. 9.  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him
  117.     a which is above every name;
  118. 10. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of
  119.     things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under
  120.     the earth;
  121. 11. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ
  122.     is Lord, to the Glory of God the Father.
